Mahesh kicks off Grama Vastavya programme from Haradanahalli in KR Nagar taluk

Mysuru: In a bid to better understand the plight of farmers, tourism and sericulture minister will hold ‘Grama Vastavya’ every month. Through ‘Grama vastavya’, we will get the government to the village. I have also been told of problems with streetlights, poor roads, khata transfer, delay in issuing pensions, etc, which will be resolved. Mahesh said that he would try to hear farmers’ grievances, and try to resolve them at the earliest.On Friday, the minister stayed at the home of a farmer Ananthu, of Haradanahalli, which comes under the KR Nagar assembly constituency, which he represents. Mahesh, performed puja at Ballur Katte before releasing water to the Chamraja right and left bank canals for agriculture.Mahesh received a rousing welcome at the village, with hundreds of villagers, party workers and government officials receiving him.Mahesh said that, consecutive droughts had resulted in water level at Ballur Katte plummeting. “However, owing to heavy rainfall this year, water from the check dam is overflowing. So, in order to support agricultural activities in the region, we decided to release water after performing Bagina,” the minister said.On his choice of Haradanahalli for launching the ‘Grama Vastavya’ initiative, Mahesh said, “Officials from various departments have been visiting the village for the past one month, and been listening to the grievances of the farming community. I have also been told of problems with streetlights, poor roads, khata transfer, delay in issuing pensions, etc, which will be resolved. Through ‘Grama vastavya’, we will get the government to the village. As a result, people will be prevented the hassle of running from pillar to post.”On chief minister HD Kumaraswamy’s promise to provide a house to Lakshmamma – a pledge he had made during his Grama Vastavya in Mysuru a few years ago – Mahesh said that the CM would visit Lakshmamma and ensure she was allotted a house soon.Mahesh met officials of various departments on Saturday and discussed plans for the development of the village.
