All these new planted saplings which were 5 to 6ft high were removed by the corporation staff. After seeing these saplings, they should have at least brought the issue to the notice of their higherups. What kind of example are these staff setting for common people.”The MCC staff removed the saplings, stating that they want to landscape the park. “There are 14 parks in the Vijayanagar 1 Stage. Most of the parks are in very bad condition and one can see weeds in large number. We planted these saplings after cleaning this park. If at all they want to landscape the park, let them do so at other parks in the area,” added Nanjaiah. The association has invited elected representatives, including local MLA Nagendra, to check the prevailing condition of the park. “Some of the saplings in the park were also planted by CCF Karunakar,” added Nanjaiah.Speaking to TOI, K H Jagadish, commissioner, MCC, said the development is unfortunate. “When they planted the saplings voluntarily, we should appreciate them. I have already given warning to the officers concerned and will instruct them to plant saplings in the park. I will visit the park to know the ground reality in a day or two,” he said.
