Drones to the rescue of stranded victims

The videos are being shared with the district administration , to be later used by the Air Force to drop relief material to stranded flood victims.Vinayak, Mallikarjun and Sandeep from Bengaluru are using the drones to spot people stuck in forests in areas near Kaalur, Devarthuru, Mukkodlu and Thantipala.Vinayak, who was in Madapura primary school, tested a drone with a fixed wing wide camera which can capture visuals for around 5sqkm. Another drone with a high-end lens could get detailed visuals of a specific area.Mallikarjun said the locals informed them that there are many areas in Kodagu district where rescue personnel are unable to reach due to landslides and flooding. “Some have chosen to stay. Due to landslides, some are stuck in forests and have no way out.
