Mysuru: After Kuvempunagar police inspector Ragu allegedly behaved in a disrespectful manner towards a Congress candidate contesting the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) council elections, he was taken to task by former minister and senior leader CH Vijayashankar Controversy erupted after Raghu, on learning that the Congress candidate Krishna Kumar Sagar, who is contesting the polls from Ramakrishna Nagar G Block, had organised a gathering after the scheduled timing for public campaigning had ended. However, Congress workers who were at the spot said that, it was not his decision to implement the rules but his allegedly disrespectful behaviour that ticked them off.Eyewitnesses said that Raghu allegedly pointed his finger at Sagar, and gestured him to come near him. This gesture did not go down well with Vijayashankar, who told the cop in no fewer words to behave politely.“He is a candidate from a national party, and you cannot behave rudely with him. If there has been a violation, register a complaint. But, you cannot behave in a disrespectful manner with a party candidate,” Vijayashankar told the inspector.Although other cops tried to intervene to resolve the issue, Raghu ended up getting involved in a heated argument with the Congress leaders. As the tension soared, the polling officer for the ward rushed in, and defused the situation.
