BBA student kills self over failed hair straightening treatment

MYSURU/MADIKERI: A BBA student from Mysuru allegedly committed suicide after she suffered excessive hair fall due to a failed hair straightening treatment . “Her parents filed a complaint alleging that the chemical used for the hair treatment was responsible for Neha’s condition,” he added. Her skin also showed symptoms of allergy after the hair treatment and she feared that her classmates would ask her embarrassing questions,” Neha's mother said. Her parents identified Neha from a ring found on the body.“We have collected all samples required for the investigation, including hair samples. Police believe she jumped into the river and killed herself on August 28, the day she went missing.

Her body was recovered from a river on Saturday, following which cops registered a case against the beauty parlour based on her parents’ complaint.Soon after getting her hair straightened at a local beauty parlour, Neha Gangamma started losing hair and feared she would go completely bald. “She said she didn’t want to attend college any more as her hair was growing thinner by the day. Her skin also showed symptoms of allergy after the hair treatment and she feared that her classmates would ask her embarrassing questions,” Neha's mother said. “She said she would go bald after donating hair at a temple,” her mother added.Neha went missing from Gokulum, where she lived in a paying guest accommodation, on August 28. Police said she left her PG but didn’t go to college. When she didn’t return, the PG owner informed her parents, following which a missing complaint was filed with police.On September 1, Neha’s body was recovered from Lakshmana Theertha river. Police believe she jumped into the river and killed herself on August 28, the day she went missing. Her parents identified Neha from a ring found on the body.“We have collected all samples required for the investigation, including hair samples. These will be sent to Mysuru and Bengaluru forensic laboratories. Once we get the report, action will be initiated,” said a cop. “Her parents filed a complaint alleging that the chemical used for the hair treatment was responsible for Neha’s condition,” he added.
