Allegation that we grabbed land is baseless says Revanna

HASSAN: H D Revanna, PWD and district in-charge minister, refuted accusations that he and his son Prajwal had grabbed government land, insisting that he is ready to face an investigation into the charges. Congress leader A Manju had accused Revanna and his son of getting 54 acres of public land in Dudda hobli in Hassan taluk fraudulently registered in Prajwal’s name in 2014.Responding to the allegations, Revanna said on Wednesday, “If we have acquired government land, let the concerned authorities seize it. We are ready to face any kind of investigation and do not want to react to baseless charges.”Manju had also criticized Adichunchanagiri mutt seer Nirmalanandanath Swami’s for asserting that JD(S) had come to power due to divine intervention. “Yeddyurappa talks senselessly,” he said. Everyone is equal before the law.

Condemning Manju’s statement, Revanna said, “It’s not right to speak lightly as the seer is an integral part of our society.”He also criticized B S Yeddyurappa, former chief minister and state BJP unit president, for repeatedly claiming his family was involved in irregularities. “Yeddyurappa talks senselessly,” he said. “My family has never been jailed for acquiring illegal assets.”Revanna revealed his department will construct 100 residential buildings for Government Workers Association and will acquire 600 acres of land to provide sites for 8,000 government teachers.He said work is on to fill vacant teachers’ posts and a decision to recruit around 4,000 lecturers for PU colleges and 1000 English language teachers for schools will be notified in a few days.“A total of Rs 1,200 crore has been granted for education department to construct new buildings for schools and colleges in the state,” he said. The government is also mulling introducing CBSE schools (Class 1 to 7) in every taluk.”Revanna revealed a survey for the Chikmagalur-Belur-Hassan railway project will be completed in October, while a Hassan-Tirupati train will be flagged off in 20 days.
