Shivamogga: JD(S) leader Madhu Bangarappa on Sunday said he successfully made gains into B S Yeddyurappa’s fortress in the recently concluded bypoll to Shivamogga Lok Sabha seat and said if he had four days’ time, he would have won the byelection.Speaking at an event in Shivamogga, he said, “I have scored a moral victory in short time. I lost by a small margin. My BJP opponent had campaigned for months before the polls were declared, whereas I got only three weeks’ time.”The strategy worked out as it lead to easy victories in Ballari Lok Sabha and Jamakhandi assembly segments, he said.The JD(S) leader said top Congress leaders are forcing him to accept an MLC seat and become minister in the Kumarswamy government. “But I will not do that as my father always said, ‘fight like a warrior’. I am confident of winning in 2019 and will tour across district to reach every village,” he said.Congress leaders T N Srinivas, R Prasanna Kumar and K B Prasanna Kumar asked the Congress leaders to unite again for supporting Madhu Bangarappa in the next general election.
