Mysuru: Highlighting the need to preserve heritage structures in the city, Mysuru deputy commissioner Abhiram G Sankar on Friday said, “We need to protect structures such as Devaraja Market and Lansdowne Building .”Stating that the heritage pillars adorning the entrance of the City Railway Station would be shifted in order to ensure hassle-free traffic movement, Sankar, who presided over a meeting of the Mysuru Heritage Region Development and Conservation Committee, instructed its members to choose an ideal location for them at the earliest.Sankar said that sub-committees had been constituted to identify heritage buildings in the city. “This sub-committee will also assess the condition of heritage structures,” said Sankar, seeking the opinion of the heritage panel members on the proposed renovation of the Samskrit Patashale hostel.Officials were also instructed to inspect the condition of Folklore Museum at the Jayalakshmi Vilas Palace housed within the Manasagangothri campus of the University of Mysore.
