Mysuru: A panel discussion at the Mysuru Literature Festival delved deeper into the issue of popularizing and promoting khadi and making their production more sustainable.In the discussion, fashion designers Prasad Bidappa and Rta Kapur Chishti called for a sustained effort to promote khadi and other handloom products. Bidappa said that synthetic is poisonous to mother earth while khadi is biodegradable. “Even the khadi dress worn by Prime Minister Modi is synthetic very often,” he said. He said that such a practice in Rajasthan helped the weavers expand their market.On the occasion, Rta Kapur Chishti presented a few of her latest designs made from Mysore Silk and khadi.‘Netas’ khadi not real’Prasad Bidappa told the audience that the clothes used by politicians are not made of real khadi.
