Police get vital clues in identifying culprits

Mysuru: Ramapura police probing the Sulwadi Maramma temple poisoning case have detained 10 persons so far. Chamarajanagar SP Dharmender Kumar Meena said, "We haven't detained any seer. "One of the accused belongs to an influential community and there’s pressure on police to save him," said police sources. "She added that a few patients admitted to hospital due to psychological trauma may be discharged on Wednesday. Saluru junior seer Mahadeva Swamy, head of Maramma Temple Seva Samiti, is being questioned.”On Tuesday, police detained a few agricultural department staff who allegedly sold the insecticide to one of the detainees.

Saluru junior seer Mahadeva Swamy, head of Maramma Temple Seva Samiti, is being questioned.”On Tuesday, police detained a few agricultural department staff who allegedly sold the insecticide to one of the detainees. Police are investigating how pesticide bottles reached the temple. They have identified both seller and buyer of the pesticide and this will enable them to confirm when the liquid was mixed with food served at the temple and who did it.Meanwhile, allegations of pressure on police to save an influential person are doing the rounds. "One of the accused belongs to an influential community and there’s pressure on police to save him," said police sources. Meena refuted it. "I haven't received a single call from any person. It is false news," he said.The district administration has sealed the temple. Kollegal taluk administration has locked the temple and no puja has been performed since Friday.BB Kaveri, DC, Chamarajanagar, said, "We have directed the temple management not to carry out any activity without our permission."She added that a few patients admitted to hospital due to psychological trauma may be discharged on Wednesday. "I’ve directed the DHO to prepare a list of patients who can be discharged," she said.
