As is the practice, schools can declare four holidays at their discretion — in case of rain or other emergencies. Midterm vacation will be from October 6 to 20. Summer vacation will start on April 12. Schools can tweak vacation dates, but must stick to the number of working days.According to the timetable, the month of July, at 27, will have the highest number of working days, followed by August and January with 26 each, and November and March 25 each. September will be among the lighter months for students, with 22 working days.Officials said many festival holidays have been cut to make room for additional working days. A block education officer said, “Schools will reopen on May 29, instead of June 1. Preparatory events — such as the school inauguration — will be conducted from May 25. Until now, these events were conducted on May 29.”Hassan DDPI Manjunath said 250 working days are fixed in the coming academic year though vacations can be reworked. “The coming year’s chart is an advisory on the stipulated number of schooldays.”
