Karnataka Four killed In Chikkamagaluru car accident

MYSURU: Trying to reach a destination through shortcut route ended up in a road accident killing four of two ex-servicemen families near Chikkamagaluru on Monday.A senior citizen has miraculously escaped with injuries and hospitalized. Their car fell into 60-feet deep gorge resulting in their deaths.Police claimed the families took a shortcut route from Hirebyle to reach the destination early and ended up in losing their lives. The residents nearby rushed to their rescue and shifted Sanjiv to the hospital.Vishwanatha and his brother Raghava both served in defense forces and were living in Bantwal and Puttur taluks respectively in Dakshina Kannada district. They were on their way to Balehole from Bantwal when the tragedy occurred around 2.30 pm. He has been shifted to Mangaluru hospital for better medical care Kalasa police said a total of five people were traveling in the car when the tragedy happened near Malleshana Gudde estate , some 35 kilometers away from Kalasa town.

This route was hardly used by the travelers, an officer claimed.Vishwanatha Rai (65) his wife Pushpa (60), brother Raghava Rai (62) and Raghava’s wife Mamatha (53) died on the spot while another passenger Sanjiv Rai (71) has survived.As Vishwanatha Rai was at the wheel he might have lost control while passing through Malleshana Gudde estate circle. The four-wheeler vehicle fell into the gorge leading to the tragedy. The residents nearby rushed to their rescue and shifted Sanjiv to the hospital.Vishwanatha and his brother Raghava both served in defense forces and were living in Bantwal and Puttur taluks respectively in Dakshina Kannada district.
