The district administration has also published the boundary of the booth, gender-wise list of voters and deleted names with their voter ID number to ensure transparency in the system. The list is prepared based on the latest electoral roll published on January 16, 2019.According to sources, the details including the nearest police station, the code of the polling booth, and pincode have also been included in the list. “This will help voters get the complete picture of their polling booth,” explained an officer.But many city residents are skeptical about the new initiative saying that such plans didn’t work in the past. “Generally, at the time of every election, we get voting slips delivered to the house. But on polling day there are always complaints about missing names, change in booth, deletion of names etc. Hope this year technology will help the district administration in ensuring voting rights to all,” said Bhagya S Shet, a resident of Bogadi.Explaining the new initiative, DC Abhiram G Sankar said the idea behind publishing the booth-level voters’ list is to keep the voters informed about their booths and other details. “It is the final list. Now we are receiving applications for the supplementary voters list,” he said100% enrollmentFollowing the findings that the number of fresh voters being enrolled is less, the district election machinery and SVEEP team decided to ensure 100% student enrollment from all the undergraduate, post-graduate, polytechnics and ITI institutions, Sankar said. “We are receiving applications from the students at college level,” he added.
