MYSURU: President of the Karnataka unit of the BJP and former chief minister BS Yeddyurappa on Sunday alleged that state government employees from the Veerashaiva Lingayat community were getting a raw deal in promotions, posting and transfer under the current dispensation in Karnataka. Yeddyurappa, who participated in the tenth state level convention of the Karnataka Veerashaiva lingayat Government Employees’ Welfare Association organised in Mysuru, said that the government’s partisan attitude must be questioned.“Although employees from the Veerashaiva Lingayat community are energetic, and efficient, they are handed insignificant posts. This amounts to cheating the community, and we must rectify this,” said the former CM.Dubbing the state government ‘deaf’ and ‘blind’, Yeddyurappa said that it was immune to the genuine feelings of the members of the community. “So, the people must fight on the streets. They need to revolt. This government is making it appear as though being born as a Veerashaiva Lingayat is a curse. Many communities are facing such injustice, and I will fight for the rights of all of them,” he said.Meanwhile, former MLA and Congress leader Ashok Kheny said that, despite his membership in the Congress party, he would like to see Yeddyurappa ensconced in the CM’s chair again.Suttur Mutt seer Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji was among those who graced the occasion.Interacting with the media on Sunday, Yeddyurappa charged the HD Kumaraswamy-led government of being occupied only with transferring officials, and having put development on the back burner. “The state government is limiting itself to only four districts of Karnataka. Owing to drought, people from the villages are migrating to cities in search of employment. People in the rural areas are grappling with a number of problems. But, this government is busy transferring officials. If the coalition government does not change its attitude, the people will revolt against the two parties and teach them a lesson in the elections,” said Yeddyurappa.Yeddyurappa also attacked Kumaraswamy for failing to waive farm loans as promised. Questioning the lack of clarity in the implementation of the waiver, Yeddyurappa said, “Kumaraswamy has betrayed the farmers. Incidence of farmers’ suicide continues unabated in the state. Farmers, and the general public have been left disappointed by the government.”The BJP state president said that he had completed touring 18 of the 28 Lok Sabha constituencies in Karnataka, and was optimistic of the saffron party improving on its 2014 tally in the upcoming elections. “We will win more than 22 seats in Karnataka, and over 300 Lok Sabha seats across India,” Yeddyurappa added.
