Star ambassadors to hot-air balloons for raising awareness among voters

At an outset, when compared to last Lok Sabha elections, we want to increase voting percentage by atleast 5 to 10%. Whereever there is more gathering, we will try to make best use of it by telling people about importance of voting. As there is extended holidays, we are also requesting voters to plan in such a way that they don’t miss their voting. Apart from all this, wherever politicians’ or government hoardings have been removed, we are replacing with SVEEP-related banners.” Apart from regular SVEEP activities, which includes street plays in crowded places like railway station, city bus stand and suburb bus stand, we will also make use of pulse polio and International Women’s Day celebrations.

Mysuru: To create awareness about the importance of voting, the district administration has taken up various initiatives like nominating brand ambassadors and putting up of hot air balloons in all the taluks.There are also plans to put slogans in lights atop Chamundi hills to appeal to public to participate in voting.For brand ambassadors, the district administration is trying to get cricketer Javagal Srinath , who is also the brand ambassador for Mysuru City Corporation and singer Vijayaprakash. The campaigning by noted personalities and display of hot air balloons will take place 10 to 15 days prior to voting day.Speaking to TOI, chief executive officer, zilla panchayat, Jyothi, said: “With the intention to improve voting percentage in the district and to create awareness on voting, we are going all out with various programmes which includes roping in prominent personalities.
