MYSURU: The special academic council of University of Mysore UoM ) on Thursday approved a proposal of increasing students’ intake in its constituent colleges.The idea behind increasing intake is to increase total enrollment at the higher education sector by 20%. The new rules and guidelines were proposed by a committee headed by former registrar (evaluation) J Somashekar. The meeting was chaired by the V-C G Hemantha Kumar.Kumar said that presently the national average of enrollment for the higher education is 25.2%. "A committee will be formed to look into infrastructure and other issues that will arise due to the increase in intake," Kumar added.The meeting also approved to continue the existing course combinations in all first-grade colleges.
