Panel says no to varsity's plan to desilt Kukkarahalli Lake

MYSURU: Activists fighting the desilting of Kukkarahalli Lake have won their battle. Rama Prasad is a retired professor of IISc while Babu is a retired chief engineer, who worked with the water resource department. The expert committee constituted by the Karnataka Lake Conservation and Development Authority (KLCDA) has put brakes on the University of Mysore 's plan to desilt the waterbody. It has said the waterbody doesn't require desilting at all.The two-member panel comprising Rama Prasad and C N Babu has taken objection to the varsity's move , saying it was not cleared by the KLCDA.
