Three get life term for murdering youth

Mysuru: The first additional district and sessions court on Friday sentenced three persons to life imprisonment for murdering a youth five years ago.According to public prosecutor Ajitkumar D Hamigi, district judge N Krishnaiah held Harish Kumar alias Khiladi, 23, of Malluru village, Pradeep alias Jambu, 27, and Ravikumar alias Amavase, 28, both residents of Mahadevapura, guilty of murdering KG Koppal resident Yogesh, and sentenced them to life imprisonment and slapped a fine of Rs 5,000 each.The accused used weapons to murder Yogesh near Government AYUSH Hospital on New Kantaraj Urs Road coming under Ashokapuram police limits at 10.30pm in 2012. They had managed to escape in a car after the attack. Yogesh succumbed to injuries at a private hospital the next day.During investigation it was found that Harish, who worked at a private bank, was a friend of Yogesh. Harish was staying in a rented house owned by Yogesh's family. Yogesh used to host booze parties regularly for his friends, including Harish.Meanwhile, Harish lost his bank job. But still, he used to pester or fight with Yogesh to buy him liquor. Because of this, Yogesh discontinued his friendship with Harish.Yogesh's parents suspected Harish and his friends to be behind the murder of their son and filed a complaint at Ashokapuram police, who filed a chargesheet to the court.Based on the evidences and statements by Yogesh's father Suresh and his friend Manju, who were the eyewitness of the crime, the court pronounced life sentence to the trio. The court also ordered compensation from the government to the victim's parents under Karnataka Victim Compensation Scheme.
