Beef on menu lands organizers in trouble, BJP demands action

BJP Yuva Morcha president Sampath Kumar said, "We condemn beef eating at Mane Angala auditorium. The deputy commissioner has sought a detailed report on the incident from department's assistant director after BJP activists held an informal ceremony to "cleanse" the premises by sprinkling cow urine on Monday. The venue is used to promote culture but on Sunday, an event organizer had spoiled its sanctity by serving beef to participants." Deputy commissioner D Ran deep said, "Eating beef is not a violation but it is against Kalamandira rules that say no food should be served inside the premises. There was breakfast and lunch for participants -chowchow baath, beef and chicken dishes were prepared for breakfast and beef biryani for lunch.Sources claimed the participants and chief guests had breakfast.

MYSURU: Eating non-vegetarian food to inaugurate a seminar by a theatre group at the Mane Angala auditorium inside Kalamandira on Sunday , has kicked off a fresh controversy with BJP activists demanding action against the organizers for "misusing" a public place.This has forced district authorities to blacklist the organization and withdraw remuneration given by the Department of Kannada and Culture to the organization, besides withholding the deposit money. The deputy commissioner has sought a detailed report on the incident from department's assistant director after BJP activists held an informal ceremony to "cleanse" the premises by sprinkling cow urine on Monday. Deputy commissioner D Ran deep said, "Eating beef is not a violation but it is against Kalamandira rules that say no food should be served inside the premises. I have asked Kannada and Culture department officers to seize the deposit money and not to provide them space in future." He also objected to the cleansing ceremony done without permission.Charvaka Social and Cultural Trust, as part of its three-day Charvaka Grameena Rangakala -2017 organized a seminar on 'Food Culture and Freedom of Individual' on Sunday. There was breakfast and lunch for participants -chowchow baath, beef and chicken dishes were prepared for breakfast and beef biryani for lunch.Sources claimed the participants and chief guests had breakfast. This infuriated proHindu activists and they said the organizers had hurt the sentiments of the people.Writer KS Bagavan, University of Mysore professor Mahesh Chandra Guru, Save University Forum KS Shivaram, former mayor and corporator Purushotham and trust convener Girish Machalli were present at the inauguration.
