Manipal University achieves ISO 50001

MANIPAL: Manipal University 's efforts to maintain global best practices in energy management, use and performance and factors that impact global climate change were duly recognized by TUV Rheinland (I) Pvt Ltd. At a function here at the university on Tuesday, Bernd Hagen, regional manager, certification of management systems, TUV Rheinland Pvt. The energy management certification is a testimony to the positive contribution by the university in mitigating effects of climate change, he added. Apart from this, the university has been consistently improving upon its quality and environmental performance by incorporating the revised ISO standards 9001 & 14001.The ISO 9001 certificate was received by pro vice-chancellors, Dr Poornima Baliga and Dr G K Prabhu , ISO 14001 by registrar Dr Narayana Sabhahit and ISO 50001 certificate was received by pro-chancellor Dr H S Ballal. All heads of constituent colleges along with nodal officers were presented with their respective certificates.Ballal said that although the focus of the university is education and health care, the environmental considerations are an integral part of decision making to ensure that no adverse impact arises due to the university's operations.
