Mysuru: With Mysuru featuring in the cities of the country where the term Blue Whale has been searched on the internet, Department of Public Instruction (DPI) officials and city schools have started an awareness drive to ensure that children don't fall prey to this deadly game.According to the Google trends data for Saturday evening, in the past seven days, Mysuru ranked 26th among Indian cities where the term Blue Whale was searched.D Udayakumar, Block Education Officer (BEO), Mysuru North, told STOI that he has shared the department's action plan on creating awareness among students with all schools. "On Monday, we are meeting all headmasters where the issue will be discussed," he said.Several city schools have already started holding awareness events. At the Mysore Public School, three faculty members, including a psychology teacher, spoke about this game. School principal Alaister LaPorte said one of the main objectives was engaging students in creating social awareness about the game."In my introduction, I asked how many students were aware of this game. Most students raised their hands. Our students are fully aware of its effects. We requested them to keep an eye on children who behave in an unusual way, who have cut marks on their bodies, etc. We want our students to alert elders if they found any students addicted to the game," he said.He added, "Students from classes 7 and 12 participated in this event."
