‘Butterfly’ effectively deals with various social evils

The play consisted of 21 young actors who learnt acting skills in the workshop conducted by Ahirkar. The actors were feted by Shukla with certificates.Suresh Agrawal, secretary, Rashtrabhasha Parivar, and members Ajay Gampawar, Shantanu Shrivastav, Prakash Chandrayan and Basant Tripathi helped to make the workshop successful. “Someone who did not even know the ‘a’ of acting has performed beautifully which proves that the workshop was successful. I was delighted to see them perform on stage and am sure that they will have a successful future in acting.”Rajaram Shukla, director of Rashtrabhasha Parivar, congratulated the actors for their performances and hard work. Ahirkar acted in the play and also scored music.Maiden appearance of all the actors of the play, who gave justice to the roles they played, was the high point of the show.

Nagpur: Staging of ‘Butterfly’, a play that depicted how the society is ridden with social evils, marked the culmination of a 12-day workshop on acting and drama, organized by Rashtrabhasha Parivar at Suresh Bhat Sabhagruh, on Friday.Directed by Devendra Ahirkar, a graduate of National School of Drama, Delhi, the play touched upon true life incidents like child molestation and trafficking, inter-caste marriages and such others to draw the attention of the society towards these glaring issues. Ahirkar acted in the play and also scored music.Maiden appearance of all the actors of the play, who gave justice to the roles they played, was the high point of the show. They were made aware of basic skills and also finer details of acting.In his speech, Ahirkar said, “I am honoured to teach these students who performed wonderfully. I feel very close to each and every one of them. I was delighted to see them perform on stage and am sure that they will have a successful future in acting.”Rajaram Shukla, director of Rashtrabhasha Parivar, congratulated the actors for their performances and hard work. “Someone who did not even know the ‘a’ of acting has performed beautifully which proves that the workshop was successful. I wish them best for their future. Many such workshops will be conducted in future to guide newcomers and help them perform on stage,” he added.The audience praised the actors by cheering and giving them repeated rounds of claps.
