FDA seals 6 pan shops for selling gutkha

Nagpur: The Food and Drugs Administration ( FDA ) Nagpur unit on Monday sealed six pan shops in the city for selling banned gutkha During a routine check, FDA flying squad stumbled upon banned products at Mahalaxmi Pan Mandir near administrative building, Civil Lines.Similarly, the squad raided Laddu Pan Palace, in front of Tehsil office, Civil Lines, Aadhaar Shrungar, Gandhi Chowk, Sadar, SBD Pan and Tea Stall, Wanjari Nagar, Ajni Road, Mikky Pan Shop, ESIC Hospital Chowk and Adarsh Pan Centre, Dhantoli and recovered banned material.“The shops were openly selling banned products. Around 2.44kg pan masala and gutkha, worth Rs1,665, has been seized,” said Shashikant Kakre, assistant commissioner (food).The FDA immediately sealed the shops so that they cannot continue with the business. The squad will also be finding the source from where the illegal pan masalas were purchased.
