Opposition gets Eknath Khadse to order probe into MIDC land acquisition

Nagpur: State industries minister Subhash Desai was all in knots trying to wriggle out of the situation when Opposition members were joined by none other than former revenue minister and BJP leader Eknath Khadse seeking replies on land acquisition by Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation . Members said the whole deal was fishy and MIDC officials were being shielded as they invariably indulge in favouring few land owners.An irate Khadse said he was the victim of this MIDC process in which land acquisition notice is issued but not acquired even after fifty years. “At Bhosari, similar thing happened and I am being harassed and humiliated for last two years,” Khadse said. The minister had to bow down and order a probe into the matter to pacify a belligerent Khadse.In a calling attention motion, Atul Savey and others raised the issue of how the MIDC had started process for land acquisition in Aurangabad district in villages Japir adjacent to its Shindra industrial estate. He demanded as to why the notification was issued in the first place without verifying site topography of the site.Faced with a volley of questions and an angry ruling party member in the form of Khadse, Desai agreed to order a probe into the matter of MIDC land adjacent to Shindra.

After a high-power committee meeting decided that 215 hectares of land could be acquired in the said area as there was a long pending list of those seeking industrial land.Savey was joined by opposition leader Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil in getting replies from minister on as to why some hilly land unfit for industrial use was also sought to be acquired and notification accordingly issued .The minister was at pains to explain that the actual acquisition had not taken place and that 25 hectares of hilly terrain would be excluded from the process.
