Nagpur: The opposition members slammed the BJP-Shiv Sena government over complete failure to give justice to farmers from Vidarbha region, despite the fact that monsoon session was held in the region for that purpose.Speaking on last week’s resolution moved by Congress-NCP legislators, leader of opposition in council (LOP) Dhananjay Munde demanded complete loan waiver to the farmers hit by pink bollworm and pest attacks.“The farmers here are suffering as the government failed to provide adequate compensation as assured in the December session here. It’s over six months since it was announced to grant Rs37,500 to farmers hit by bollworm. Still, the saffron alliance failed to provide compensation as promised,” he said.Taking a dig at the government, he asked on “where’s achche din” as assured by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.Outgoing MLC Manikrao Thakre informed about the plight of farmers who suffered due to crop losses because of various reasons like incessant rains, bollworm and pest attacks. He demanded compensation to not only cotton and paddy farmers but also for those producing tur dal. “Even the recently hiked minimum support price (MSP) by the Centre is very inadequate. They also lack storage facilities,” he said.BJP MLC Suresh Dhas hailed PM Modi for historic announcement of MSP, but courted controversy by making accusations against Munde and Amarsinh Pandit over some irregularities in Beed District Central Cooperative Bank.It led to war of words between LOP and Dhas with both making accusations against each other. Following this, the presiding officer adjourned the House when members from treasury and opposition benches started shouting at each other. After proceedings resumed, the war of words continued. Dhas, in particular, was not ready to listen and continued his tirade even as Munde was speaking. Even after repeated warnings by chairman Ramraje Nimbalkar and personal request by parliamentary affairs minister Girish Bapat, he continued to speak. It took three ministers to pacify both sides.Only 43% industries running in ButiboriThe Maharashtra government on Thursday informed that only 43% industries were running in the Butibori Industrial Estate, while production in 15% was stopped. It was informed by industries minister Subhash Desai while replying to a brief discussion under Rule 93 in the council by MLC Prakash Gajbhiye.Desai informed that production was shut down on 223 plots after they started, while no work was started on 219 plots.NCP leader Jayant Patil also pulled up the government for its failure to attract industries in Butibori MIDC and Mihan. Speaking during last week’s resolution moved by the opposition, Patil said that in spite of important ministries being with MLAs from Vidarbha new industries were only starting in Mumbai-Pune belt.“In the past four years only four major industries were started in Butibori MIDC. This is the progress of Make in Maharashtra. There are 114 vacant plots there. MIDC had put 32 plots on auction but got no response,” he said.Turning to Mihan, he said, “Some 102 companies were given land there but only 35 started their shop. Two of them have closed down. In last four years 17 companies purchased land in Mihan but only two have started construction work. Infosys has not done any construction in past six months.”Patil also slammed the government for vacant posts of doctors in hospitals of Melghat region. He pointed out that irrigation projects of Vidarbha were progressing at a snail’s pace due to lack of funds. “BJP is making a song and dance about Rs 13,500 crore sanctioned by central government for the region’s irrigation projects. However, the state government will have to take a loan for meeting its share. Will the centre allow this,” he said.
