Nagpur: Design not height has changed: CM on Shivaji’s statue

The changes in the architectural design were made so that the memorial be strong face enough to face storms and floods, the CM said. This doesn’t reduced the total height of the memorial. However, the consultant studied the project in details and decided that the platform shall have 40% height and statue will be of 60%. He said that earlier it was decided that of the total height of the memorial, 20% will be that of the platform and 80% will be of the statue. He also assured that an all-party meeting would be held soon to discuss on the issue.

Nagpur : Replying to the apprehensions raised by the Opposition over alleged reduction in the height of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s proposed statue in Arabian Sea, Chief Minister Devendra Phadnavis informed the State Assembly that the government had not taken any such decision. He said that earlier it was decided that of the total height of the memorial, 20% will be that of the platform and 80% will be of the statue.
