Nagpur: Maharashtra legislative council has cleared about 22 bills in the entire session that started from July 4. A majority of them were cleared on Friday, which was over ten. The first five were cleared in the first session, while rest were taken up in concluding hours. But all the bills were cleared without much discussions, which is a usual practice. It included amendments made into the MPID and MPDA Acts. Since it was last day of the session, the members displayed rare unity in expediting the proceedings of the house and clearing all bills.The upper house also cleared bill regarding government taking over control of Shani Shingnapur Temple Trust, a popular pilgrimage place in Maharashtra. The bill was however opposed by BJP’s alliance partner Shiv Sena where senior legislator Neelam Gorhe clarified their stand.Speaking on the amendments carried out in MPID Act, Kiran Pawaskar demanded probe of persons who started ‘Game King India’ and even after arrested and released on bail, they started ‘Game King World’. In this way, they causes losses of Rs5,000 crore to the exchequer,” he said.Other members demanded to include lottery business under the purview of the MPDA Act. MLC Rahul Narwekar asked the government on checking the conflict issue while including lottery and human trafficking in the MPDA Act.
