‘Vitthal Namacha Re Taho’ keeps devouts engaged

Nagpur: South Central Zone Cultural Centre, in collaboration with Crystal Foundation, had organized an afternoon of devotional songs ‘Vitthal Namacha Re Taho’ at Scientific Society Hall on Sunday.With an elaborately designed stage with cutouts of various saints of Maharashtra forming the backdrop, the singers sat bathed in multi-coloured lights to present various popular abhangs.Conducted under the baton of well-known music composer Moreshwar Nistane, the three other singers, Shruti Chaudhary, Mukul Pande and Bhushan Jadhav picked up popular devotionals songs which have been immortalized by famous classical singers for decades.Adding a touch of art to the performances was noted artist Nana Misal who drew images of Vitthal , the temple and town of Pandharpur on a canvas, adding colour to the mood.After the traditional rendition of ‘Jai jai Ram Krishna Hari’ by all the singers, Shruti presented ‘Sundar te dhyan’. Bhushan matched this with ‘Dattachi palkhi’. Creating a sombre mood with his soulful rendition of ‘Sadguru bhakta durlabh aise’ was Mukul Pande. Nistane mesmerized the audience with ‘Nako tuza haal ha Vitthala’.Amit Jachak, founder of Crystal Foundation, said, “The event was organized in a hurry as we wanted to hold it a day before Ashadhi Ekadashi. Today being Sunday, we decided that it would be appropriate to hold it in the afternoon.
