Caste verification time for elected members now one year

Nagpur: The elected members of local self-government bodies and directly elected municipal council presidents from reserved constituencies will now get a year’s time for submission of caste verification and validity documents. The project is estimated to irrigate 6,954 hectares while Karanja has potential to irrigate 1,790 hectares. While the cost of medium Purna barrage-2 has now been revised to Rs 222.81 crore, that of Karanja Ramjanpur minor project has been revised to Rs 211.15 crore. Earlier they had a six-month window for it.This was among the decisions taken at the state cabinet meeting held on Tuesday in Mumbai. For the Purna barrage, this is second upward revision .

Nagpur: The elected members of local self-government bodies and directly elected municipal council presidents from reserved constituencies will now get a year’s time for submission of caste verification and validity documents. Earlier they had a six-month window for it.This was among the decisions taken at the state cabinet meeting held on Tuesday in Mumbai. The cabinet approved changes in the relevant laws. The decision will also have retrospective effect from April 7, 2015. Looking at the large number of such candidates and huge pendency before committees designated to scrutinize caste validity papers, it was decided to allow more time for the process.The cabinet also gave its nod for inclusion of Koradi Lake of Mahagenco under national plan for conservation of aquatic ecosystems (NPCA). Under the plan, pollution control of water bodies in semi-urban and urban areas is envisaged under the plan aided by MoEFCC.In other decisions, the cabinet gave administrative approval to cost revision of two irrigation projects in Akola district. While the cost of medium Purna barrage-2 has now been revised to Rs 222.81 crore, that of Karanja Ramjanpur minor project has been revised to Rs 211.15 crore.
