Sub-divisional court and designated court for subsistence claims has issued an order recognizing Amol’s claim to a share in the 3500-square metre prime residential property located at GPO Square in Civil Lines. Nagpur: The ongoing tussle between senior Congress leader and former minister Ranjeet Deshmukh and his younger son Amol has taken a curious turn. Interestingly, Amol’s mother Rupatai Deshmukh in her submission to the court clearly stated no nuisance was created by Amol and his wife Suchita and that they had been supporting the elder Deshmukh couple by living with them. The elder Deshmukh had also claimed that in 2014 Amol had forcibly entered the house after his return to the country after education abroad and marriage with Suchita. The court asked them to settle the matter amicably.

Nagpur: The ongoing tussle between senior Congress leader and former minister Ranjeet Deshmukh and his younger son Amol has taken a curious turn. Sub-divisional court and designated court for subsistence claims has issued an order recognizing Amol’s claim to a share in the 3500-square metre prime residential property located at GPO Square in Civil Lines. Some time ago, the senior Deshmukh had summoned police to evict Amol from the house. The former minister had later filed a case under Section 23 of Senior Citizens’ Subsistence and Welfare Act 2007, claiming he was the sole owner of the property and that Amol was not allowing him his right to enjoy his stay there without any interference. The elder Deshmukh had also claimed that in 2014 Amol had forcibly entered the house after his return to the country after education abroad and marriage with Suchita. Both Amol and Suchita are doctors by profession. The father also claimed that because of harassment, insulting behaviour and illegal activities of Amol and his wife, he was forced to leave his house at GPO Square and was now living with his elder son Ashish who had built his own house ‘Barkat’ at Red Cross Road, opposite collectorate in Civil Lines. After hearing the parties, the sub-divisional magistrate Shirish Pande on Wednesday passed an order saying Ranjeet Deshmukh’s claim that the GPO square property was his self-owned was not sound, it was an ancestral property acquired by his parents Madhuribai and Arvindbabu Deshmukh. The order further recognized that Amol had a right to a share in the property and thus his staying in a part of it was rightful.Deshmukh Sr had also claimed he had bought two separate properties, one at Raj Nagar and another at Abhyankar Nagar for Amol but the latter was greedy and eyeing the GPO Square property. Accusing him of malice, the father also alleged that Amol was removed from the management board of the private medical college and education empire he owned as he had indulged in nefarious and illegal activities. In his submission, Amol stated looking at the fragile health of his father and mother, his living at the GPO Square house was to help his parents in their hour of need and medical emergencies. He also denied any knowledge of any property at Abhaynkar Nagar. Interestingly, Amol’s mother Rupatai Deshmukh in her submission to the court clearly stated no nuisance was created by Amol and his wife Suchita and that they had been supporting the elder Deshmukh couple by living with them. The court asked them to settle the matter amicably.
