Debt-ridden bizman, three others commit suicide

Nagpur: 44-year-old businessman Mahesh Mirani, who owned two shops, allegedly committed suicide due to mounting debts by throwing himself in front of a train on Monday. Yashodhara Nagar police have registered a case of accidental death. Jaripatka police have registered a case of accidental death. Sonegaon police have registered a case of accidental death.In another incident, 30-year-old Pankaj Nirvan was found hanging from the ceiling fan at his residence at Yadav Nagar.

Nagpur: 44-year-old businessman Mahesh Mirani, who owned two shops, allegedly committed suicide due to mounting debts by throwing himself in front of a train on Monday. Mirani is the second trader to end life in the city. Another trader had taken the drastic step at Khamla last month.Mirani and three others committed suicide in separate incidents.Police said Mirani, who owned cloth outlets at Gandhibagh and Teka Naka, left home in the morning as usual to open shops. Later in the day when his family members, including wife, tried to contact him, he was unreachable.His family members then approached Jaripatka police station to report a missing person complaint. They also lodged a theft complaint of their vehicle, sources said.Police said the vehicle was first spotted near WCL Colony in the night, followed by Mirani’s mutilated body on the railway track. A suicide note was found in his pocket where Mirani mentioned about reeling under heavy debts.He also left behind a request not to bother the rest of the family after his death. Jaripatka police have registered a case of accidental death. The inquest was conducted by head constable Dheeraj Borkar at Mayo hospital where the post mortem was conducted on Tuesday.In another incident, 73-year-old Marakhan Yadav was found hanging from a tree on a farmland owned by Dongre family. The incident came to fore on Monday. It’s learnt that Yadav was ailing for several days, which may have prompted him to take the drastic step.Police said Yadav left home to answer nature’s call in an open ground but did not return home. He was later found hanging from the tree. Wadi police have registered a case of accidental death.55-year-old Shreekrishna Charde ended his life at his residence at Vitthubaba Nagar on Monday by hanging himself with a nylon rope. Sources said he was addicted to liquor. Sonegaon police have registered a case of accidental death.In another incident, 30-year-old Pankaj Nirvan was found hanging from the ceiling fan at his residence at Yadav Nagar. Nirvan, who used a saree to end his life, took the drastic step on Monday. Police said Nirvan was suffering from some ailment for a long time, which may have compelled him to commit suicide . Yashodhara Nagar police have registered a case of accidental death.
