Nagpur Tourist killed, 8 hurt in mishap near Mandi

Mandi/Nagpur: One tourist was killed, while eight others were injured when a Volvo bus collided with a Tempo Traveller (DL-IBC-2620) near Harabag under the Sundernagar police station in Mandi district on Wednesday. Eighteen persons, on board the Tempo Traveller, were all natives of Maharashtra, while 40 were in the bus. The Tempo Traveller was damaged badly. Additional District Magistrate Rajiv Kumar said that the district administration has provided Rs 26,000 as immediate relief to those injured. The deceased was identified as Anupam Tiwari (45), a native of Nagpur, Maharashtra.

The deceased was identified as Anupam Tiwari (45), a native of Nagpur, Maharashtra. The injured are Aadesh Shinde (19), Nikhil Ambedkar (37), Bikka Varudkar (21), Shubham Jai Bhay (20), Megha Ptagle (21), Puja Rahagadale (19), Jalaluddin (47) and Chetan Devra (20), all natives of Maharashtra. One critically injured victim Chetan Devra was referred to the PGI, Chandigarh. According to the information provided by the police, the bus was on its way towards Manali on the Chandigarh-Manali highway, while the Tempo Traveller was coming from Manali and heading towards Chandigarh when both vehicles collided at Harabag. Eighteen persons, on board the Tempo Traveller, were all natives of Maharashtra, while 40 were in the bus. The Tempo Traveller was damaged badly. The injured were rushed to a hospital at Sundernagar for medical treatment. Among the travellers were 15 students and one teacher of BR Manohar Institute of Pharmacy, Nagpur, who were travelling back to Chandigarh from Manali after completion of their vacations. DSP Sundernagar Taranjeet Singh said that the driver of bus Lalit Kumar, a native of Delhi, received minor injuries. Negligent driving appears the cause of the accident. A case has been registered under Motor Vehicle Act and investigation was going on. Additional District Magistrate Rajiv Kumar said that the district administration has provided Rs 26,000 as immediate relief to those injured.
