Nagpur: The decomposed bodies of an elderly man, his sister, and their dog, were found at their house on West High Court Road, near Tatya Tope Chowk, on Tuesday. The bodies came to light after neighbours reported a bad smell from the house of Mohanlal Otwani. The family never interacted with anyone outside, say locals. Bajaj Nagar police led by senior PI Dnyaneshwar Patil are probing the deaths in the local ‘haunted’ house.Otwani and his sister Vasanta Kaur were living in the house at the prime location since last 35-40 years. However, the condition of the house had degraded a lot. When the cops arrived on Tuesday, the front gate of the house was locked from inside so police broke open the lock to get inside. Cops found the bodies of Otwani and Vasanta in different rooms. The body of a dog was found at the rear of the house while another dog was found alive. It is learnt that Otwani regularly used to call up Rana Pratap Nagar police station, complaining about vehicles parked in front of his house. The last call was reportedly received around a month ago.Neighbours told TOI the duo never used to come out of the house. Also, no one was allowed to step foot inside their house. “If anybody parked a vehicle outside their house on the main road, Otwani used to topple the two-wheelers using a bamboo from inside the house,” said a neighbour, who owns a wine shop in front of the house.Cops suspect that the duo died of natural causes, but there is suspicion since a dog also died at the same time.Senior PI Patil said, “We are investigating the matter from every angle. However, the direction of investigation will be decided after post mortem.”It is learnt that Otwani was a retired railway employee, however, it cannot be confirmed since no relatives have come forward as yet. The police have taken the bodies to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), where the post mortem will be conducted on Wednesday.
