Nagpur: Jyoti Kumar Satija , senior divisional security commissioner of Railway Protection Force (RPF), Central Railway, has appealed passengers to alert cops about illegal activities and other miscellaneous crimes through the helpline ‘182’.The senior RPF officer has been actively involved in spreading awareness regarding the helpline number through different activities.The RPF has arrested 12 persons for around 18 offences of illegal ferrying of liquor in trains and recovered liquor worth Rs1.77 lakh this year. The latest success of the RPF’s special crime detection squad included arrests of four Chandrapur-based women engaged in transporting liquor in specially tailored garments under their sari.In the past two years, RPF had been crossing the record benchmark of more than 1,000 cases which has been a trendsetter so far.This year, RPF has also seized narcotics apart from rescuing helpless children and also detecting many mobile and luggage theft cases.Satija said passengers should also extend cooperation by informing RPF about various illegal activities and crimes which take place in trains but go unreported.
