Technology can bridge urban-rural gap : Dr Anil Kakodkar

Developing the technology and also convincing the world on Universal Nuclear Disarmament has been successfully achieved by the nation, Dr Kakodkar said.

Nagpur: Renowned scientist and nuclear physicist Padma Vibhushan Dr Anil Kakodkar was bestowed with Dr Mohan Dhariya Rashtriya Navnirman Puraskar on Thursday for his contributions to the world. The award was presented by Vanarai Foundation at Banyan Hall Chitnavis Center in the able presences of Social Worker Dr Abhay Bang, Vanarai Foundation President Ravindra Dharia, Girish Gandhi Vanarai Chief of Nagpur Unit, Ajay Sancheti, Girish Kuber Senior Journalist, Dr Dilip Peshve. Dr Kakodkar was felicitated with shawl, shreefal, memento and Rs 1 Lakh. Speaking on the occasion Girish Gandhi lauded the efforts of Mohan Dharia made to make India a better place during his time. Dr Bang said that the intelligent class in the country should also have social concerns while developing any technology.“Fortunately Dr Kakodkar has realized it and started Science and Technology Research Centre in Gadchiroli,” he said. Developing the technology and also convincing the world on Universal Nuclear Disarmament has been successfully achieved by the nation, Dr Kakodkar said. He added that the gap between rural and urban population can be filled by developing appropriate technology for the villagers, by understanding their needs. “Another major concern is of providing quality education right from early childhood to highest level. This has also connection with very high prevalence of anaemia among children and women. And the third issue is of science-based rural development,” he said. “If after retirement everyone can utilize his knowledge to guide the next generation, life will be happy,” he advised.
