Woman killed by live-in partner suspecting her fidelity

Nagpur: Ravindra Landge, 30, allegedly killed his live-in partner Sangeeta Sonkusre, 30, by slitting her throat with a thermocol cutter at their room at Vaibhav Nagar near Dighori toll naka on Thursday night. The place had blood stains which convinced cops about the possible involvement of Landge who was subsequently rounded up. Sangeeta and Landge had started staying together just three days ago. Police said Landge suspected Sangeeta of having a secret relationship with the common friend. It’s learnt that she was also spotted roaming with one of the close friends of Landge which subsequently became the cause of her murder.

He later dumped the body behind a bush on a plot around 100 meters away from his place in the wee hours of Friday.Sangeeta, mother of three, including a teenager son, had left her husband around a fortnight ago to stay with Landge. Sangeeta and Landge had started staying together just three days ago. It’s learnt that she was also spotted roaming with one of the close friends of Landge which subsequently became the cause of her murder. Police said Landge suspected Sangeeta of having a secret relationship with the common friend. Landge, son of a teacher, was staying in one of his empty shop-turned-room.Doubting her character, Landge would frequently pick up fights with Sangeeta on the issue of her two-timing him. A heated quarrel in the late evening between Landge and Sangeeta is learnt to have led to the murder.Nandanvan police was alerted about the body of a woman with her throat slit behind the bush by residents of Motilal Nagar after they came out searching for the reason of dogs barking in the street. Tejram Bamborte, a retired teacher, alerted the cops after spotting the body. Nandanvan cops were initially left bewildered as there was nothing to identify the woman.Crime branch unit team under PI Vishwanath Chauhan, APIs Dilip Chandan and Kiran Choughule, cracked the murder after identifying the woman with the help of some local residents. The crime branch cops had learnt that the woman, who would work as a labourer, was frequently spotted with two men in the neighbourhood.One of the local residents helped crime branch cops to zero down upon the place where Sangeeta had started staying with Landge. The place had blood stains which convinced cops about the possible involvement of Landge who was subsequently rounded up.
