Deposit Rs2.10cr for bail, HC asks builder Dangre

Nagpur: Continuing its tough stand against high profile petitioners seeking anticipatory bails, the Nagpur bench of Bombay high court on Friday, directed Vijay Dangre, director of Maharaja developers, to deposit Rs2.10 crore with the registry.A single-judge bench comprising Justice Murlidhar Giratkar clarified that since allegations against Dangre involved crores of financial transactions, he should deposit the required amount. He was accused of duping many such gullible customers by taking advance from them towards selling of plots and then failing to give possession, from February 2006 till last year. He allegedly forged the documents of sanction plan and property of the government land and sold them off in lieu of huge amount to the buyers.The accused then moved sessions court for anticipatory bail, which was rejected. He then challenged the verdict in higher judiciary.

The petitioner was granted two days to reply or else, the HC would pass appropriate orders.On October 15 last year, the HC had asked Nirmal Nagari Sahakari Pat Sanstha chairman Pramod Manmode to deposit Rs6 crore along with the passport, in connection with the similar complaint filed in one of his projects — Nirmal Nagari.The Sakkardara cops had booked Dangre under Sections 420, 504 and 506B of IPC and also for allegedly threatening the complainant Ramuji Wankhede. Earlier on Tuesday, the Maharashtra government, strongly opposed granting of anticipatory bail plea to the builder contending that there is every chance that he may influence the witnesses and complainant as well.The builder was booked for defrauding complainant to the tune of Rs44.25 lakh by selling them the government land, claiming it as his own. He was accused of duping many such gullible customers by taking advance from them towards selling of plots and then failing to give possession, from February 2006 till last year.
