Nagpur: A sting operation by an examinee has exposed mass copying at Bokara-based Ramkrishna Wagh College, which is also centre for the upcoming Board exams, during the last winter exam conducted by the Nagpur University (NU). The college, having a school within the same building, is home centre for SSC, HSC and undergraduate exams. While the NU hasn't taken any action against the college and its guilty students, the board too has refused to scrap the controversial school as centre despite an NGO and MLC Pariney Fuke writing to the divisional board chairman last month. In their complaints to the university and the board, the NGO and the MLC had questioned the decision of authorities to permit the trust to allot its own premises as centre to its students.Prashant Thakare, who is now Nagpur district president of OBC NT Party of India, used to work at the college. Thakare told TOI that he had asked an examinee to submit it as proof along with his complaints. In October last year, the organization had alleged that though there were several irregularities during exam the junior college officials managed to hush them up by bribing officials. In their letter to Pro-V Pramod Yeole, the organization said that the NU exam section under Neeraj Khaty failed to act or initiate any inquiry against the college despite repeated tip offs and complaints. The NU authorities are mum on the issue.Yeole didn’t answer to TOI’s calls and sms. Vice chancellor SP Kane and director of examiniations and evaluation Neerja Khaty too didn’t answer to TOI’s calls, sms, and mail.Ravikant Deshpande, chairman of divisional board of secondary and higher secondary education, only said they will keep a watch on the centre and disconnected TOI’s call. The student, who could be identified by NU from his roll number, had leaked three clips after filming the BBA second-year exam underway at the centre. A source from the college forwarded the video to TOI. The videos show students freely exchanging chits and book during the exam. The college code printed on the paper too have been recorded. The filming itself raises questions on invigilation as gadgets are not allowed inside exam hall.Principal of Saraswati Jr college Lata Wagh denied the charge that any cheating took place on their premises. She preferred to call it ‘mischief’ played by some students. Asked if invigilator was present or not, she replied in the affirmative but couldn’t explain how a video was shot during exam time.Regarding board exams, she said this time 32 board officials would be deployed at the college and the entire exam would be shot on camera.Principal of Ramkrishna Wagh College Panjak Zadge too trashed the charge. “Before taking principal’s charge, I was chief supervisor for all university exams. I have never seen any malpractice at our centre. If we had allowed mass copying, we would have got 100% results which is not the case,” he said.Without naming Thakare, Zadge said some people are deliberately maligning the image of college by spreading rumours.
