For 2nd yr in row, IIM-N records 100% placements

Nagpur: For second year in a row, the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) here has managed to place all its 54 students in reputed companies. “We’re building on this model of industry inclusiveness to ensure a seamless integration and exchange between the academia and the industry. After initial hiccups in the first year, it had managed to bounce back in the second year with its flagship ‘Post Graduate Programme’ (2016-18). The education and personality development that they experience during their study time here would go a long way in putting them in good stead in their future journey,” said director Prof LS Murty.Career Development Services (CDS) in-charge Souvik Roy expressed gratitude corporate partners for showing confidence in IIM-N students. It replicated the feat for its third PGP batch by placing all its 55 students in sectors like FMCG, analytics, IT, consulting, logistics and others, this year.Consulting, followed by analytics, eCommerce, FMCG, IT and manufacturing recruited over 70% of the batch.

It replicated the feat for its third PGP batch by placing all its 55 students in sectors like FMCG, analytics, IT, consulting, logistics and others, this year.Consulting, followed by analytics, eCommerce, FMCG, IT and manufacturing recruited over 70% of the batch. Nagpur was among the six new IIMs started by the ministry of human resource development (MHRD) in 2015, but the ground-breaking ceremony of its permanent campus at Mihan took place last week only.Last year the highest package offered was Rs19 lakh/annum, while the average was Rs12.05 lakh. This year, it was Rs20 lakh and average was Rs12.35 lakh, according to a IIM-N press release.Additionally, the average package offered for top 10% and first quartile of batch was Rs17.48 lakh and Rs15.45 lakh respectively, and the median package was Rs12 lakh.The number of companies coming for the placements however were steady at 40 like last year. Many first-timers made a beeline at premier B-school’s campus on the premises of Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT), for recruiting the students.The students preferred sectors like sales and marketing, consulting, and analytics were the most sought-after, closely followed by finance, and operations. This year, IIM-N also witnessed enthusiastic participation from senior executives from popular companies like Bank of New York Mellon, Flipkart, WNS Global, Barclays Bank, NTT Global, Lowe Lintas, Goldman Sachs, Absolute Data, Grofers, Bank of America, Ford Motors, Olam International among others, in the form of open seminars and guest lectures.“I am happy that this year too, our graduating batch found challenging careers openings of their choice. The education and personality development that they experience during their study time here would go a long way in putting them in good stead in their future journey,” said director Prof LS Murty.Career Development Services (CDS) in-charge Souvik Roy expressed gratitude corporate partners for showing confidence in IIM-N students. “We’re in the process of automating the whole placement process which would result in managing the process efficaciously and thereby presenting our talent pool to our partners well in advance,” he said.CDS chairman Prof Rahul Kumar Sett said many senior and experienced practitioners are partnering with faculty members at IIM-N to jointly deliver courses. “We’re building on this model of industry inclusiveness to ensure a seamless integration and exchange between the academia and the industry.
