Nagpur: Acting on a tip off, a special squad, set up by DCP Zone 5 Harsh Poddar, intercepted a car in Yashodhara Nagar and seized a cache of lethal arms including knives, sword and nabbed five accused on Monday. The special squad, while on patrolling duty on Monday night, received secret information that a gang of five suspicious persons were seated in a white Indica Vista car (MH-31/EK 0917) and the car was parked near Sher-e-Punjab Lawn, opposite Maharashtra Spare Parts Shop in Yashodhara Nagar. Acting swiftly, the squad rushed to the spot and intercepted the car. The five accused Abdul Shafiq Abdul Hafiz (32), Abdul Rafiq Abdul Hafiz (34), Mohd Irfan Abdul Wahab (41), Sheikh Nazir Sheikh Bashir (34), all residents of Subhan Nagar, Bhandara Road, Kalamna, and Mohd Shakil Mohd Shabbir (31), native of Sufiyan Nagar, near Nagpuri Gate, Amravati, were detained and subjected to intense interrogation. Cops frisked the accused and checked the car and found four big knives, a sword and other weapons in their possession. Cops also found the accused in possession of mobile phones of different companies. The weapons, mobile phones and the car was seized. The gang of five accused was booked under Section 4/25 of Arms Act read with Section 135 of Maharashtra Police Act and put behind bars. The task was performed by the special squad PSIs Vinod Dhongde, Madhav G Shinde, and staff Rajkumar Janbandhu, Pankaj Lande, Suraj Bharti, Dinesh Yadav, Prabhakar Mankar, Vinod Sontakke, Ravindra Raut, Mrudul Nagre and Ashok Dubey.
