Man fakes wife’s death to get married again

Nagpur: Dhantoli police on Saturday arrested a 54-year-old man for allegedly tricking a divorcee into marriage by faking his first wife’s death. Maudekar, working as a freelance stenographer at the court, also created a profile on the matrimonial site with the sole purpose of meeting widowed women. Maudekar then performed a court marriage with Vaishali. The accused then approached Vaishali and they met at a hotel in Dhantoli area.The accused also showed a fake death certificate of his wife and claimed that his mother is suffering from a fatal disease, so he needed to marry soon. After investigating the case, Dhantoli police registered a case of fraud against the accused and arrested him.Cops said Maudekar had full knowledge about various documents due to his work at the court, which helped him to forge the death certificate of his wife.

Arun Maudekar, a resident of Jagnath Budhwari, was produced before the court on Sunday and police procured his PCR till March 26.Police said Vaishali, 43, had created her profile on a matrimonial site after she divorced her husband 10 years back. Maudekar, working as a freelance stenographer at the court, also created a profile on the matrimonial site with the sole purpose of meeting widowed women. The accused then approached Vaishali and they met at a hotel in Dhantoli area.The accused also showed a fake death certificate of his wife and claimed that his mother is suffering from a fatal disease, so he needed to marry soon. Maudekar then performed a court marriage with Vaishali. After a few months, Vaishali noticed that Maudekar is avoiding to take her to his house, so she dug around and learnt that the accused’s wife is still alive and he has three children.When the fraud came to light, Vaishali approached Dhantoli police station and filed a complaint some days ago. After investigating the case, Dhantoli police registered a case of fraud against the accused and arrested him.Cops said Maudekar had full knowledge about various documents due to his work at the court, which helped him to forge the death certificate of his wife.
