SST recovers Rs 50L in Akola, Rs 25L in city

A police complainant was lodged at same police station in Akola.In Nagpur, the SST seized cash Rs25 lakhs from two bike-borne persons at Sirongi check post at Saoner on Monday. The cash, seized in presence of independent witnesses, was found in a plastic bag when the searches were conducted on the duo.The bikers learnt to have brought the cash from Madhya Pradesh. The revenue department had later alerted the Income Tax personnel who are now learnt to be conducting a probe.

The Static Surveillance Team ( SST ) constituted to keep a watch on such illegal activities has raided many places in Vidarbha and seized a huge amount of unaccounted cash. In Akola , it raided a vehicle and recovered Rs50 lakh unaccounted cash on Monday.A team comprising GV Sahare and Sagar Mandavgale intercepted a driver a Ford Fiesta car (MH 37 G 8468) driven by Vishal Suradkar. He was accompanied by Govind Sumant from Malegaon. When they were grilled by the SST members, both gave unsatisfactory answers. They claimed the cash withdrawn from the HDFC Bank in Akola, through two cheques of Rs25 lakh, in the name of Yogesh Shyamsundar Mundhda of Govind Agency in Malegaon. The entire amount belongs to the farmers, they claimed. Disbelieving them, the squad seized entire amount and lodged a report in Old City Police Station in Akola.Another SST team headed by Ganesh Gawli, Anil Javarkar, Ishwar Narde and police constable Krunal Ghuge seized Rs2.86 lakh from a vehicle while on the duty on Sunday. A police complainant was lodged at same police station in Akola.In Nagpur, the SST seized cash Rs25 lakhs from two bike-borne persons at Sirongi check post at Saoner on Monday. The two persons, ferrying the cash, too were rounded up.Sources said Ganpat Kodape and Rahul Dhawale were intercepted by the SST’s joint team of police and revenue departments.
