Fire official gives clean chit to Suruchi factory

A source told Nagpur Today that, due to the fire, the steel used in the building structure is melting making it dangerous. While speaking to Nagpur Today, Rajendra Uchake, CFO said that the factory had all the required fire safety equipment at its premises. Nagpur: The fire that broke out at the cold storage of Suruchi Masale continued to rage on fourth day on Thursday. However the Chief Fire Officer (CFO) has given a clean chit to the factory. When contacted an NIT official pleaded ignorance about it but said he would discuss it with his seniors and find out the fact.

Nagpur: The fire that broke out at the cold storage of Suruchi Masale continued to rage on fourth day on Thursday. However the Chief Fire Officer (CFO) has given a clean chit to the factory. While speaking to Nagpur Today, Rajendra Uchake, CFO said that the factory had all the required fire safety equipment at its premises. “Except for sprinkles, the factory is armed with all the fire safety equipment,” he said, adding, “Fighting with such a severe fire, we have pressed into service only two water tenders owing to sufficient water resources at the factory.” The roof of cold storage situated at Kapsi Mahalgoan on Bhandara road, has fallen but the flames continued to engulf the premises, he said. A source told Nagpur Today that, due to the fire, the steel used in the building structure is melting making it dangerous. The building may cave in anytime, it is feared. It may be mentioned that a section of media termed the factory premises unauthorised mentioning that it had not obtained necessary sanction from the Nagpur Improvement Trust (NIT) even after being served notice a year ago. When contacted an NIT official pleaded ignorance about it but said he would discuss it with his seniors and find out the fact.
