Steam engine at Narrow Gauge Museum illuminated to mark World Heritage Day

Nagpur: The archaic steam engine at the Narrow Gauge Rail Museum in the city was illuminated to mark World Heritage Day. Every year, World Heritage Day is celebrated on April 18 with a view to promote awareness about the heritage structures and buildings. A large number of people, who turned up at the museum to see the engine were delighted to see the decorated museum. Keeping the tradition alive, Nagpur division of South Eastern Central Railway (SECR) decorated all the olden glories at the museum in Motibag with the 112 years-old steam engine number 677 was attractively lighted with LED lamps. People were also given information about narrow gauge line and models associated with it including loco, coach, wagon and other equipment.

All the buildings are decorated and illuminated to mark the occasion. Moreover, it was the same day when first train was run in India 166 years ago. Keeping the tradition alive, Nagpur division of South Eastern Central Railway (SECR) decorated all the olden glories at the museum in Motibag with the 112 years-old steam engine number 677 was attractively lighted with LED lamps. A large number of people, who turned up at the museum to see the engine were delighted to see the decorated museum. A 45 minute documentary film was screened at the museum auditorium. Local residents along with school students enjoyed the film. People were also given information about narrow gauge line and models associated with it including loco, coach, wagon and other equipment.
