Private contractor killed over pending dues in Hudkeshwar, 2 booked

Nagpur: Hudkeshwar police have booked two persons on the charges of murdering a 31-year-old private contractor, Shrikant Haribhau Wanjari. They reportedly took Shrikant to an isolated place outside the city, where they thrashed him with iron rods and beer bottles. The accused duo reportedly kidnapped Shrikant on May 5, and beat him up him with iron rods, beer bottles and knife. Based on the complaint lodged by Sushant, Hudkeshwar police booked Akash and Shailesh under Sections 302, 364 (A), 452, 143, 147, 148, 149, 323, 504, 506 of the IPC. This led him to borrow money from accused Akash alias Vikky Bhosle, a resident of Sarvashri Nagar, Dighori and Shailesh Kedar, a resident of Itwari.

The accused duo reportedly kidnapped Shrikant on May 5, and beat him up him with iron rods, beer bottles and knife. Shrikant, who was referred to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) on May 8, was declared brought dead. According to police, Shrikant, a resident of Flat No. 106, Durgesh Nandini Nagar, Narsala Road under the jurisdiction of Hudkeshwar police, was facing financial crisis duo to some losses in his business. This led him to borrow money from accused Akash alias Vikky Bhosle, a resident of Sarvashri Nagar, Dighori and Shailesh Kedar, a resident of Itwari. Soon, Akash and Shailesh started forcing Shrikant to pay additional interest against the amount lent to him and also often picked up fights with him. On May 5, while Shrikant was alone, Akash and Shailesh barged into his house and forcefully took him on their motorcycle. They reportedly took Shrikant to an isolated place outside the city, where they thrashed him with iron rods and beer bottles. The accused duo further allegedly attacked Shrikant with knife. Done with the beating, Akash and Shailesh then dropped Shrikant at his home. However, Shrikant did not narrate the incident to anybody for the next couple of days. On May 8, Shrikant complained of severe chest pain to his mother. His mother then applied balm on Shrikant’s chest and left for some work. When she returned home in the evening, she found Shrikant lying on the floor in an unconscious state. She alerted her elder son Sushant and rushed Shrikant to GMCH, where doctors declared him brought dead. Hudkeshwar police first registered a case of accidental death and started investigations. During the probe, the post-mortem report showed severe injury marks on Shrikant’s chest and back. Following which cops received information about Akash and Shailesh and their role in his murder. Based on the complaint lodged by Sushant, Hudkeshwar police booked Akash and Shailesh under Sections 302, 364 (A), 452, 143, 147, 148, 149, 323, 504, 506 of the IPC. Further probe is underway.
