Historic moment COVID 19 vaccination begins

Two days ago vaccines reached Nagpur and today -- on Saturday -- the mass vaccination drive began. Medical Officer at the women's hospital of Nagpur Municipal Corporation at Pachpaoli Dr Dipankar Bhiwgade became the first person in city to get vaccinated. “I Did not face any trouble after vaccination” he said Following the instructions from Central Government the COVID vaccination drive began in city. 'Over 22000 in city to get vaccine' “As per the instructions by Central Government in the first phase of the COVID-19 vaccination drive the healthworkers will be covered. India has indigenously developed the vaccine and finally it was made available to the healthworkers which is a historic moment.

Since then the healthworkers have been fighting like warriors. In the fight to contain the virus some achieved martyrdom . Their martyrdom did not go waste. At the same time during the fight everybody kept asking when the vaccine to beat the virus would come? Two days ago vaccines reached Nagpur and today -- on Saturday -- the mass vaccination drive began. Two nurses -- Rajshri Fule and Rajni Meshram -- did the honour of administering the first vaccine of the city to Dr Bhiwgade. The names of these three will go down in history. For the trio the experience was exhilarating. Warding off skepticism Dr Bhiwgade appealed every healthworker not to fear and go ahead for vaccination. “I Did not face any trouble after vaccination” he said Following the instructions from Central Government the COVID vaccination drive began in city. Dr Nitin Raut Guardian Minister and Dayashankar Tiwari Mayor inaugurated the drive at Pachpaoli hospital. Simultaneously the drive opened at Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Hospital (IGGMCH) Daga Hospital All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). Divisional Commissioner Dr Sanjeev Kumar Nagpur Municipal Commissioner Radhakrishnan B Chairman of Health Committee of NMC Virendra Kukreja Deputy Director of Health Sciences Dr Sanjay Jaiswal Additional Commissioner Jalaj Sharma Ram Joshi Medical Health Officer Dr Narendra Bahirwar Medical Officer Dr Sanjay Chilkar were among prominent present. The rumour was doing rounds on Friday that private doctors would not get the vaccine but Government did not make any discrepancy. Those vaccinated were kept in monitoring chamber for half an hour. Over 22000 in city to get vaccine “As per the instructions by Central Government in the first phase of the COVID-19 vaccination drive the healthworkers will be covered. In Nagpur 22500 healthworkers will be given the vaccine dose” informed Radhakrishnan B Nagpur Municipal Commissioner. Dr Gode couple first to get vaccinated in Hingna Dean of Datta Meghe Medical College Dr Dilip Gode and Dr Surinder Gode became the first to receive the vaccine at Hingna Rural hospital. Dr Sanjeev Kumar called the couple and enquired about their health. MLA Sameer Meghe CEO of Nagpur Zilla Parishad Yogesh Kumbhejkar and others were present. A moment of pleasure All those who were given the dose of vaccine said “We did not feel any trouble. It was a moment of pleasure and has come as a boon from the Government. We appeal others that they should not believe rumours being spread on social media. Every frontline healthworkers should look at the vaccination drive positively and come forward to get themselves vaccinated.” Health Deptt to be in touch with those vaccinated While talking to mediapersons Dr Nitin Raut said “Every centre will witness the drive four days a week and everyday 100 persons will be administered the dose. The machinery is fully ready. The most important thing is the health agency will be in touch with recipients. After 28 days second dose will be given.” We feel proud Calling it a day of rejoice Mayor Dayashankar Tiwari said “The COVID-19 pandemic made everybody feel frustrated. The healthworkers rendered the service risking their lives without leaving any stone unturned. Authorities tried to break the chain of coronavirus and to some extent they succeeded. India has indigenously developed the vaccine and finally it was made available to the healthworkers which is a historic moment. We are proud of this moment. It is a very happy moment. I congratulate all who contributed to the drive .”
