'Those' ZP members to file review petition in SCStaff Reporter :As many as 16 members of Nagpur Zilla Parishad (ZP) whose seats have been deemed vacant as per the directions of the Supreme Court got together in an all-party meeting and decided to file a review petition in the Apex Court. The latest Supreme Court directions have left affected prominent ZP members from different parties including Manohar Kumbhare Vice-President of ZP; Anil Nidhan BJP group leader in ZP; Chandrashekhar Kolhe NCP group leader in ZP; and others. All these members from different parties came together and decided to file a review petition in the Supreme Court. “We may be filing the review petition on Monday” he added. The Supreme Court had recently ruled that reservation for backward classes in ZP and Panchayat Samiti (PS) should not exceed 50 per cent cap.

Those ZP members to file review petition in SC Staff Reporter : As many as 16 members of Nagpur Zilla Parishad (ZP) whose seats have been deemed vacant as per the directions of the Supreme Court got together in an all-party meeting and decided to file a review petition in the Apex Court. In Nagpur district there are total 16 members elected from Backward Class of Citizens (BCC)/OBC seats. These seats include Sawargaon and Bhishnur in Narkhed tehsil Yenwa and Paradsinga in Katol tehsil Wakodi and Kelvad in Saoner tehsil Karambhad in Parseoni tehsil Bothiya Palora-Umri in Ramtek tehsil Aroli-Kodamendhi in Mouda tehsil Gumthala and Wadoda in Kamptee tehsil Rajola in Kuhi tehsil and Godhani Railway Nildoh Digdoh and Isasani. Besides there are total 15 such elected members in six PS in the district. These include two each in Kalmeshwar and Umred PS three each in Saoner and Ramtek PS four in Hingna PS one in Bhiwapur. The latest Supreme Court directions have left affected prominent ZP members from different parties including Manohar Kumbhare Vice-President of ZP; Anil Nidhan BJP group leader in ZP; Chandrashekhar Kolhe NCP group leader in ZP; and others. All these members from different parties came together and decided to file a review petition in the Supreme Court. Anil Nidhan confirmed this to The Hitavada on Sunday. “We may be filing the review petition on Monday” he added. The Supreme Court had recently ruled that reservation for backward classes in ZP and Panchayat Samiti (PS) should not exceed 50 per cent cap. The reservation for OBCs should be part of this 50 per cent reservation and excess reservation provided in favour of OBCs has been set aside. Accordingly State Election Commission also asked the Collectors of Nagpur Washim Buldhana Dhule Nandurbar and Palghar districts to declare such seats as deemed vacant.
