In an appalling incident, a seven-month-old boy was severely thrashed by his mother in Nagpur in Maharashtra. A purported video of the assault surfaced on social media and started making waves, following which the local police rescued the infant and rounded up his parents.
As per reports, the incident occurred on May 24. The video purportedly shows the woman mercilessly beating her infant son during an altercation with a family member. A relative who was present there recorded the video and sent it to his contacts. Soon, the video spread like wildfire in cyberspace.
Taking cognisance of the viral video, the Ambazari police in Nagpur sprang up in action and rescued the infant boy. The police rounded up his mother and said that legal action will be initiated against her. “Senior inspector Narendra Hiware of Ambazari police station said the baby was fed at the police station and is in safe custody,” a report published by The Times of India stated.
According to the police, the rescued infant’s father, who is a musician, used to work in an orchestra. But now due to the pandemic crisis, he is making his ends meet by working as a laborer.
In another incident, a visually impaired man has been arrested in Telangana`s Jagadgirigutta for sexually assaulting his 13-year-old niece.
According to the police, three days ago, the minor girl complained of stomach ache, following which she was taken to a doctor by her family. The girl`s medical examination revealed that she was five months pregnant. She then told her mother that her uncle had raped her several times over the last six months. Subsequently, the girl`s parents reported the crime to the police, and the accused was arrested.
