Non-essential shops likely to re-open? Staff Reporter :GOING by guidelines issued by Maharashtra Government on Sunday trading activity in city is likely to get a nod for normal resumption across all sector essential as well as nonessential categories. The local authorities are empowered to decide on giving permission for non-essential category shops to re-open after nearly two-and-half months of curbs. One major point of the order is about increasing operation timings for all shops from current 11 pm deadline to 2 pm. The increased in working hours is quite good as due to current restricted timings there tend to be crowding during last hour. Also the local authorities are asked to considering increased working hours for shop related to agriculture sector in view of upcoming kharif season.

Staff Reporter : GOING by guidelines issued by Maharashtra Government on Sunday trading activity in city is likely to get a nod for normal resumption across all sector essential as well as nonessential categories. A formal order from Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) remains to lift the veil of secrecy but State Government notification seems quite clear. As per the order issued by Chief Secretary Sitaram Kunte a guiding principle is that case load and occupancy of oxygen beds. The Break the Chain order mentioned that Municipal Corporation area would be treated as separate unit from district area to determine positivity ratio has to be at 10 per cent or below it for the current week. Similarly the beds occupancy of oxygen supported should be below 40 per cent which indicates that infection level in that respective areas is stable and conditions conducive for opening of all business. The local authorities are empowered to decide on giving permission for non-essential category shops to re-open after nearly two-and-half months of curbs. One major point of the order is about increasing operation timings for all shops from current 11 pm deadline to 2 pm. The increased in working hours is quite good as due to current restricted timings there tend to be crowding during last hour. It also states that on weekend the shops in non essential categories would remain closed. The occupancy in offices is also permitted to be increased to 25 per cent and more if requested at places where infection level has subsided. Also the local authorities are asked to considering increased working hours for shop related to agriculture sector in view of upcoming kharif season. Shopping Mall and big departmental store however would still have to wait.
