Ex-PM Narasimha Rao's OSD Ram Khandekar no moreRam KhandekarStaff Reporter :Ram Khandekar who worked as an Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to former Prime Minister P V Narasimha Rao breathed his last after a prolonged illness at his home-town Nagpur late on June 8 night. He was invited by P V Narasimha Rao in 1985 to manage his then Parliamentary constituency of Ramtek. In 1991 when Rao became the Prime Minister Khandekar was considered his closest confidant as his OSD. Khandekar worked with Rao till the latter's death. Ram Khandekar wrote for several Marathi newspapers and penned at least 60-70 articles for different Diwali special publications based on his experiences during his service period and interactions with the political leadership of the time.

Ex-PM Narasimha Raos OSD Ram Khandekar no more Ram Khandekar Staff Reporter : Ram Khandekar who worked as an Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to former Prime Minister P V Narasimha Rao breathed his last after a prolonged illness at his home-town Nagpur late on June 8 night. He was 87. The last rites were performed at Ambazari ghat on Wednesday. Khandekar a resident of Laxmi Nagar area of city leaves behind his son Mukul daughter-in-law Sangeeta and two grandchildren Gaurang and Janhavi besides a host of relatives. Ajit Pawar Deputy Chief Minister; Nitin Gadkari Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways; Devendra Fadnavis Leader of Opposition (Assembly); and Dr Nitin Raut Guardian Minister of Nagpur district condoled the demise of Khandekar. In separate condolence messages they described Khandekar as a gentleman and scholarly person who had insight into politics of the country. Khandekar had worked as Personal Secretary to Y B Chavan former Maharashtra Chief Minister and former Defence Minister. He was invited by P V Narasimha Rao in 1985 to manage his then Parliamentary constituency of Ramtek. In 1991 when Rao became the Prime Minister Khandekar was considered his closest confidant as his OSD. Khandekar worked with Rao till the latters death. Ram Khandekar wrote for several Marathi newspapers and penned at least 60-70 articles for different Diwali special publications based on his experiences during his service period and interactions with the political leadership of the time. In 2018 he wrote a weekly column for Marathi daily Loksatta based on his vast experience of over five decades of public life. Rajhans Publication published the compilation of these articles as a book Sattechya Padchhayet in 2019.
